The Mojave, a seared, sun-baked wilderness.
Desolate home for tarantulas and sidewinders,
two of my least favorite *******.
Occasionally, its immensity is bravely sprinkled
with a few crazed inhabitants like myself
who don't mind excessive heat, sandblasting winds,
or relentless ******* by nomadic tumbleweeds.
I always wondered if tumbleweeds have a purpose out here,
or are they just props and decoration
for abandoned mining towns,
or airborne transportation for the thousands
of long-dead souls of lone prospectors
still scrounging in desperation over the bleached hills
for a few grains of glitter.

in this godforsaken land and haunt the clutches
to my sanity.

my Satan's sandbox.
It is indeed an ideal place for lost souls
and drifters like myself to disappear
from a world of want yet not wanted,
a world of dreams and desires yet never desired,
a world I leave behind forever.
